
2008 OSHA Region VI Oil & Gas Health & Safety Conference Summary
On December 2 & 3 over 780 oil & gas representatives attended the 2008 OSHA Oil & Gas Safety Conference in Houston, TX. This was the first time OSHA has hosted a safety conference focused on the Exploration & Production industry.
The 2008 conference theme, “People, Equipment, and Compliance”, stressed the interrelationships and importance of seamless interaction to achieve safety excellence.

The conference strove to bring a closer understanding of how industry and OSHA can work together to improve safety performance through OSHA and industry cooperation, knowledge sharing of best practices and building relationships.
The conference hosted notable guest speakers including E. Scott Geller, internationally renowned safety professional and author, John Drebinger, the "Master of Safety Communication", Charlie Morecraft , “the world's most renowned Motivational Safety Speaker”, and former Houston Oiler and New Orleans Saints head coach, Bum Phillips. In addition to a robust speaker list, there were 36 breakout sessions hosted by industry leaders and 50 exhibitors to fill the attendees’ tool box.
